Meanwhile, Indonesians like it savory, because most Indonesian dishes are made from coconut or coconut milk. So this time I will write about making Creamy Spinach Cita Rasa Indonesia.

After the video, one of my friends, who was a real chef and not a food blogger anymore, told me. “Ma’am, the hidden eggs are called Scott Eggs and their friends are Creamy Spinach and Hollandies Sauce plus mozzarella.”

Wow…I can imagine how delicious it is. I immediately searched YouTube for the tutorials and recipes that Mas Jun (friend of the chef who told me that) mentioned. And all the ingredients are very easy to make, the ingredients are not difficult either. So to start, I first made Creamy Spinach, because I happened to have all the ingredients in the refrigerator.

The Origin of Creamy Spinach Before writing the recipe, I wanted to know the history of Creamy Spinach. Who invented food and what special food? After Googling it turned out I couldn’t find the history.

I only found out that Creamy Spinach was originally a regular spinach soup. So from the history of spinach soup I know the origin of Creamy Spinach.

Based on the Spinach Soup article on Wikipedia, this Spinach Soup used to be a typical dish of Chinese kings (duh… I immediately thought of the Korean drama series Royal). Now it becomes the most luxurious king food when added to white tofu. Spinach soup with white tofu is called Emerald and White Jade Soup. The spinach means emerald and the white tofu as white jade. Well, the name alone makes it look luxurious. It is also called King’s Food.

However, in India, milk is the mandatory sauce used for spinach soup, they call it Palak Soup. Wow… Even the soup is delicious, right?

So for Palak Soup, the spinach is crushed (finely blended) and mixed with milk so that it resembles spinach porridge.

So, how easy is it to make Indonesian flavored creamy spinach? Why Indonesian taste, because it tastes savory and resembles the taste of Indonesian soup. The original creamy spinach does not contain nutmeg and the taste is somewhat bland. That’s why I made one that Indonesians love. This garlic cream spinach is the perfect addition to any protein. I first made this to pair with my Best Blackened Salmon recipe, but it could also be great with some Italian Herb Grilled Chicken or even Tandoori Grilled Shrimp Skewers! I don’t see why not! I actually tried to make this a lighter version than the traditional creamed spinach recipe. If you are serving this creamy spinach as a side dish for the holidays, you may want to enjoy your actual meal more and have a less rich side dish!

First of all, I don’t use full cream here, but 10% half and half cream. I don’t think you need heavy cream to make this creamy and delicious. The half and half cream works great, and we add texture with the Parmesan cheese.
