Puthu Mayam is known by many names. In India and Srinklanka, where Putu mayam originates, it is known as Putu mayam, idiyappam, string hoppers, sevai, chomai and many other names. It is basically made from rice flour, water, salt and a little oil. It is in the form of appam (pancake). 10. Steam for about 4-5 minutes or until fully cooked and elastic texture appears over medium heat. Turn off the heat and let the putu mayam cool for another 5 minutes, then remove from the steamer and serve warm.
For a savory breakfast or meal: Puthu Mayam doesn’t have much flavor. It’s like rice eaten with other side dishes or entrees. The same goes for Putu mayam. You can give it almost anything you want
