Our catering commissioner is located on the east side of Cincinnati. We operate three award-winning food trucks and we are a full service caterer. We are a women owned and WBE, SBE & SLBE certified business.

Sweets & Meats BBQ is a female owned & operated business with very humble beginnings. The business was launched in 2014, in the heart of Mt. Washington where Kristen Bailey lived for 42 years. Co-Founders Kristen Bailey and Anton Gaffney purposely started the business in their own neighborhood, setting up their tent in the Mt. Washington Creamy Whipon weekend, before getting a permanent home at the Cincinnati Patriot Center. After graduating from MORTAR Entrepreneurship Academy in December 2015, Kristen Bailey successfully funded a Kiva Loan for a down payment on custom-built SDG BBQ food trailers and launched on March 12, 2016. She still works full time in the corporate world and works in businesses during the night and weekend. Anton continues to lead the team with a staff of mostly volunteer friends and family, as well as culinary interns from the Cincinnati Job Corps.

Sweets & Meats BBQ continues to expand and open a physical restaurant in Mt. Washington at the former Little Caesar’s Pizza on July 12, 2017. In 2018, Bailey left his career in banking to better support Anton and their business, moving on to work solely in banking. this business and had an outstanding year, with recognition as the US Small Business Administration’s Ohio Business Person of the Year, Cincinnati SCORE Client of the Year, SBDC Ohio Business of the Year, and Member of the Cincinnati Courier Business Class Forty Under 40. In February 2019, a second food truck was purchased, expanding their reach to events at Fountain Square, corporate catering, and at private homes. Sweets & Meats BBQ quickly grew from scratch to physical business, operates four cars seasonally, and is a well-respected BBQ caterer in the Greater Cincinnati area.

In 2023, Sweets & Meats BBQ will celebrate nine years in business. We increased our business this year and have added a special BBQ Trailer with hob & hog grill. We will start offering pork roasts and grills on site. We will also launch another concept called All Events Catering this year. We are closing our take away restaurant in December 2022 and are committed to expanding our Catering & Events business. We have been longtime residents of Mt. Washington and it is our honor to make a contribution to the communities where we live and serve. Sweets & Meats BBQ is known for supporting local non-profit organizations, particularly those focused on education. We offer our support financially, giving of our time, and through regular giving of food donations and gift certificates.

In 2020, amidst this pandemic, we were recognized for our leadership, resilience, and remaining committed to serving the community. We are one of 3 restaurants selected locally by the James Beard Foundation and awarded a $15,000 grant.

We were also recognized by the UC Goering Center as 2020 Family Business Award Recipients and Anton Gaffney, our Co-Founder, received the coveted Rising Leader award.
