2Wash the apples, peel them, core them and cut them in half or quarters. Note: For thick applesauce, wash, core, peel and chop apples into 1/4-inch pieces. Follow the cooking instructions, do not puree, and proceed to the step of adding sugar.

5Mash or purée the apple mixture. NOTE: For thick applesauce, do not puree. Measure apple mixture into a large, non-reactive saucepan. Add about 1/4 cup of sugar per 1 cup of apple mixture. Mrs. Stir in Wages® Spiced Apple Blend until combined. Just boil, stirring frequently. Remove from heat. Carefully pour the hot apple mixture into the hot jars and fill evenly. Leave 1/2 inch of head space. Remove any air bubbles, wipe down the rims, and replace the lid on each jar as it is filled.

6 Process the pint for 15 minutes** and the quart for 20 minutes** in a boiling water bath canner. Turn off the heat, carefully remove the canner lid, and let the jars sit in the canner for 5 minutes. Remove the jars. Let the jars sit undisturbed at room temperature to cool for 12 to 24 hours. Test jars for airtight seals according to manufacturer’s instructions. If the jars do not close completely, keep them in the refrigerator and consume within 1 week.

7The product is ready to eat after 24 hours. Store properly processed shelf-stable product in a cool place and use within 1 year.
